"Think globally - act locally" is the slogan of the round table that was held on April 15, 2016, the participant of which were the biology teachers from Hlukhiv secondary schools and the teachers of the Natural Sciences educational department. The constructive work gathered the experts in Hlukhiv center of Ukrainian Environmental League. The teachers actively supported the idea of cooperating and discussing the directions on improving pupils and students’ environmental education.

The International Ecological Forum "Ecology. Education. Science" was held on March 2, 2016 at the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine during which the members of the International Association of university ecologists, representatives of legislative and executive authorities, scientists, education authorities, schools and research institutions workers, representatives of civil society discussed the activities of the International Association of Universities Ecologists and strategic ways of improving environmental education and science on the principles of stable development.

In the frameworks of celebrating the 110 years anniversary of signing the International Convention on Birds’ Protection on April 1, 2016 the students of Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv national pedagogical university at the initiative of teachers of Theory and methodics of teaching natural sciences chair and students of Natural sciences educational department held a holiday "Day of Birds." The event was aimed at promoting ecological and environmental knowledge, developing interest to birds’ life, informing the public about the importance of bird protecting measures that are taken in our country and the European Union to protect and preserve the feathered population, attracting students’ attention to the problem of maintaining biodiversity.

On March 24-25, 2016 at Natural sciences education department a series of seminars under the teaching course "The environmental security strategy: the European experience integration" was held. During these seminars the issues on the EU countries participation in international environmental activities were discussed. Students made presentations on the content and ways of practical implementing international conventions, directives and agreements on environmental protection.
